Reading for classroom music teachers
Darren Wicks is a vocalist, jazz pianist and choral conductor with a passion for music education. His teaching career spans 20 years encompassing all age groups (from infant to adult) and a variety of contexts (studio, classroom, schools, tertiary and teacher workshops). Darren studied music, singing and voice pedagogy both in Australia and throughout the USA. In 2013 he completed a PhD through the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He also holds a Masters degree in music education. Darren is actively involved in several music organisations; has published numerous teacher resources; and regularly presents at teacher conferences and workshops. He currently conducts the 100-voice Melbourne Singers of Gospel and teaches contemporary voice and aural training at NMIT.
